In 2021, I totally did not expect to make so much money from my first year of doing options trading. I earned a total of 222k in total by the end of 2021. I also started this blog sometime in 2021 to share all I have self-learnt and what was working for me, in hope to pass the knowledge to others and empower their lives.
However, in 2022, I did myself to lose so much money as I cut 415k worth of losses on all options contracts that I bought from 2021 and average down in 2022. While it may seem that I have nothing constructive to give in 2022, I realized that sharing my experience of dealing with such huge losses help encourage and support people who are dealing with losses in the market crash of 2022, whether through options trading or crypto investments.
The below table shows the earnings per month from Jan 2022 to Dec 2022. If I did not factor in the huge losses from the total destruction of my LEAPS CALL portfolio, I was actually making positive returns for every month in 2022. This goes to show that options trading can work, if done in the right way with proper risk management.

Concluding Thoughts
2022 has been a humbling year for me. I switched from a mindset of nothing could go wrong to one that was soul-crushing when the market kept crashing. I remember buying 100k of LEAPS contracts when the bear market was in its infancy stage as I thought I may not have the opportunity again to buy the dip. In every rally of 2022, which were dead cat bounce looking back now, I was hopeful that the tide would turn and that everything would go back to what it was in 2021.
2023 will be a harder and volatile year for options trading and we must always remember Warren Buffet’s wise words of not losing money in the stock market. It will be difficult because many people are mixed about what could happen in the stock market in 2023. So, the advice that I wish to give to everyone, including myself, is to take it slow and steady. A small profit is better that a small loss, which in turn is better than a huge loss. No one can predict 100% on where the market is going, so let us all do our due diligence when investing or trading with our hard earned money.
